Obituary

Virginia M. (Daley) Mahon, 95, of Concord, N.H. passed away peacefully at her daughter's house in Stoddard New Hampshire on June 10, 2026, after a period of declining health. Virginia was born in Concord, NH, on April 1, 1931, to parents Kathryn (Gorham) Daley and John Daley. Virginia graduated from St. John High School in Concord in 1949, and The Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene in Boston, MA.

After college she worked for the New Hampshire Department of Public Health, The Head Start Program and the NH State Hospital Dental Department. She married classmate Richard V. Mahon on April 14, 1956, at St. Peter's Church in Concord. After retirement from the dental profession, she worked part time at the St. John the Evangelist After School Program, H&R Block, and Encompass Health. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Daughters of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Forsyth Alumni Association, the St. John High School Alumni Association and the UNH Cooperative Extension.

Family was very important to Virginia, and she was an active caregiver for her grandchildren as they grew up. "Ninny", as she was christened by her first grandchild, a name which she became widely known as by family and friends alike, loved hosting family dinners and enjoyed showcasing her Irish heritage with her Raisin Bread and Beef Stew to the delight of all lucky enough to partake. Ninny enjoyed spring, summer and autumn at "the Camp" on the shores of Lake Winnisquam built by her parents in the 1930s. She enjoyed driving the boat and pulling water skiers and tubers, swimming, flower gardening and reading.

Virginia was a devout Catholic and took great joy and comfort in her faith attending Mass and enjoying religious holidays as a member of St. Peter's Church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, and St. John the Evangelist Church as well as Laconia churches while at Camp.

Ninny was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richie, and youngest son, John.

She is survived by her children Cathy Babson and her partner Karl Bohl of Concord; Eileen Thayer and her husband Chris of Stoddard; and Martin Mahon of Concord and daughter-in-law Shari Mahon of Warner. She leaves behind her cousins, the Lenox, Ronan, and York families, and many friends of all ages. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Patrick French, Richard and Colin Bartlett, Shaylah Bartlett and her husband Dan Budin, Desiree Lindquist and her husband Chris, Christiana Mahon-Rabun and her husband Devon Rabun, Morgan Mahon, and Christopher Mahon and his mother Jane Mahon, and Michael Babson, great grandchildren Cali, Cam, Kenzie, Sutton and Carrick. Loved by all.
