Stephen
Shaw
Jan 12, 1944 — Jul 3, 2026
Stephen Shaw, age 82, of Thorndike Street, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026 at his home.
Stephen was certainly one of the most interesting residents of New Hampshire. He was born, raised and educated in New York City. He received a master’s degree in library science. Steve decided to pursue professional opportunities in New Hampshire and Vermont but opted for an opportunity to head the New Hampshire department responsible for implementing the Administrative Procedures Act that governs how New Hampshire state agencies adopt rules, conduct hearings and allow public participation in administrative processes. He settled in the Concord metropolitan area and served New Hampshire for some 20 years before taking an early retirement.
He then focused on his passion for travel, visiting England on a regular basis and touring Europe several times, at one point, living in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic. In a sense, Steve was a man of insatiable curiosity. He was a member of the University of the Third Age, singer/songwriter, author, painter of scrolls and even had his own show on public television in Concord. He was also known for his attendance at many musical events throughout New Hampshire. On the local scene, he was a regular at musical events virtually every night of the week.
Survived by his wife Patricia Hutchins of Concord.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Concord Coalition to End Homelessness 238 N. Main Street, Concord, NH 03301.
The Waters Funeral Home has the honor of assisting the family with the arrangements.
