Scott J
Shoman
November 14, 2025
Scott Shoman, age 70, of Mayhew Turnpike in Plymouth passed away unexpectedly on
November 14th, 2025.
He was born in Madison, WI the son of the late John Albert and Lilah Leone (Levezow)
Shoman. Scott is lovingly remembered by his sisters Martha Shoman of Alamosa, CO;
Laura Riedinger, and her husband Kevin of Alexander, AR; his goddaughter and niece,
Brianna Maloney; nephew John Maloney both of California; and dog Fiona, a trusted
companion during his last years. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his
sister and her husband, Sara and Thomas Maloney. He is remembered with deep
fondness and friendship by special friend Dawn MacKechnie. His family thanks Betsy
Sailor Kidder for her kindness and friendship to Scott.
Scott lived in Merrimack NH for several years and served as a lector in Faith Episcopal
Church and on the Board of Trustees for Wheeler Memorial Chapel, where he also
managed the gardens and grounds. He was always one of the first to give time and
energy to events in these communities.
As a young man, he was active in performing arts including singing, acting and
instrumental performance. He co-developed a Valentine-o-gram barbershop quartet
fundraiser for the arts program at Roy C. Ketchum High School, Wappingers Falls, NY, which is ongoing. He continued his involvement after graduation in community theatre
and theatrical productions, notably as stage hand and roadie at the historic Bardavon
1869 Opera House in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Scott worked as an independent kitchen designer for many years in New York, Arizona,
Colorado and New Hampshire.
He enjoyed woodland walks with Fiona, tinkering with his cars, and puns, good and bad.
He tried to help those he found in need. He followed the way of Jesus. His favorite
word, "the biggest word of all" he would tell us, is "Look! LOOK!" If we will look, we will
see the need for human kindness and so bring Love and Light.
"Each one of us is a gift the earth is giving to itself now", wrote Joanna Macy, distinguished ecologist and translator. "Every anguish, betrayal, disappointment can
even help prepare us for the work of healing. You don't need to be extraordinary. If the
world is to be healed through human efforts, it is by ordinary people, people whose love
for this life is even greater than their fear." Scott Shoman was one such person.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a Charity of One's Choice, particularly to
those supporting the arts and no-kill humane societies.
The Waters Funeral Home has the honor of assisting the family with the arrangements.
