Sally
Keniston
December 26, 2022
Sally Keniston, age 91, of Winchester Ct., passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Concord, N.H., and grew up on the grounds of St. Paul's School, the youngest of 10 children of the late John and Margaret (Naughton) Healy.
After graduating from St. John's High School and Mount Saint Mary's College, Sally worked as a teacher in post-World War II France, and later in the Henniker and Franklin school districts before taking on her most challenging assignment raising her three children.
She was a talented artist, loved music and a lively card game, and NEVER lost in a game of checkers. (People are still talking about her come-from-behind victory at age 80 when she beat her nephew Eric on the bocce court at Newfound Lake.)
She was an active parishioner of Christ the King Parish for her entire life. She was always in service to God; carrying out her faith with undeniable love and grace in all of her interactions with family, friends, and even strangers. Great memories were made at Sally's bountiful table where there was always room for one more.
Sally was predeceased by her husband Ralph Keniston who she first met as a waitress at Keniston's restaurant; her seven sisters, Mary Harley, Margaret Champney, Eileen Herman, Alice St. Cyr, Nancy Norton, Patricia Prescott, and Pauline Swenson; and two brothers, John and George Healy.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul D. Keniston and his wife Christine of Dallas, Texas, and Peter D. Keniston of Pembroke; her daughter Sheri Keniston and her partner Seth Levine of Portsmouth; two grandchildren, James Keniston, and Erica Cox and her husband Greg; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Vivian Cox; her beloved nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Private Graveside services will be held at the Calvary Cemetery in Concord.
A memorial mass will be celebrated at a later date at Christ the King Parish, Concord.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Food Pantry, 67 South State Street, Concord, N.H. 03301 or to the Pembroke Town Library, 313 Pembroke Street, Pembroke, N.H. 03275.
