Obituary

Raymond H. LaChance, longtime resident of Concord, New Hampshire, passed away at the age of 96 on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at All American Assisted Living in Kingston, New Hampshire.

Raymond was born in Hill, New Hampshire, and was the son of the late Arnold and Almeda (Hill) LaChance.  He was a graduate of Franklin High School in Franklin, New Hampshire, and then served as a corporal in the United States Army in Tokyo Japan during WWII, where he received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan.   Following his honorable discharge from the service in 1947, he received a business degree from Concord College and went on to work for the State of New Hampshire as director of the NH State Parks for many years until his retirement in 1989.

In June 1968, Raymond was married to Judith Thornton of Franklin, New Hampshire.  The couple started their lives together in Franklin, and eventually moved to Concord, New Hampshire.  They enjoyed summers at their camp on Ossipee Lake, gardening, and spending time with family.

Raymond is pre-deceased by his brother, Arnold LaChance, and his sister, Janet LaChance.  He is survived by his wife of over 55 years, Judith (Thornton) LaChance, who now resides in Kingston, New Hampshire; his son, Raymond R. LaChance and his wife, Tracy, of Fremont, New Hampshire; and his two grandchildren, Mark LaChance and Karina LaChance, also of Fremont, New Hampshire.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1st at 10 am in the chapel of Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord, New Hampshire, followed by graveside services at 11 am at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, New Hampshire.
