Obituary

Norman Jackson Robinson, 86, an extraordinarily kind and generous man, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Norman was born September 23, 1938, at the United Fruit Company Hospital in Tela, Honduras. He was the son of the late Earle Clay and Antonia (Rodriguez) Robinson. Norman was predeceased by his son Michael Earle Robinson in 2012, his granddaughter Mary Nellie Ramey in 2018, his brother Charles Robinson, and identical twin sisters Evelyn R. Wood and Helen R. Sherman.

Norman grew up in El Progreso, Honduras and moved to Chesterfield, NH in 1945. He was a 1957 graduate of Keene High School, attended New England College in Henniker, and lived for many years in Concord, NH.  Norman returned to Honduras on United Fruit Company (now known as Chiquita) banana boats for many summers thereafter. He still has family and lifelong friends in Honduras and cherished seeing them at Chiquita reunions that were filled with reminiscing, music, and dancing. Norman was an active participant in the Hands to Honduras–Tela (HTH2), a non-profit service program based in Vermont providing humanitarian aid to the Tela community. He made many trips to Honduras providing invaluable bi-lingual and hands-on support. Norman started his career in purchasing at Sprague Electric Co. in Concord, NH and worked for many years as a manager for Digital Equipment Corporation and Hewlett Packard. Norman was a natural athlete and loved all sports, especially golf and basketball. He was an avid golfer having won his first tournament at age 15 and enjoyed hitting the links into his 80's. Norman loved going to Celtics games with his daughter as season ticket holders all through the Larry Bird years. Animals were always a big part of Norman's life through the years including the family's beloved dogs, cats, and horses. In addition to his remarkable good-nature, Norman will be remembered for his overall love of life, enjoying simple moments each day brings. He was always ready to greet a friend or stranger with a smile and respect; he will be greatly missed by the many people who loved him.

Norman is survived by his beloved wife of 65+ years Claudia Foster Robinson, his daughter Maureen G. Robinson and her wife Kimberley A. Muller of Billerica, MA, his grandson Joseph Kelly Muller-Robinson of Fall River, two sisters-in-law; Gail Hoadley of Mission Viejo, CA and Mary Lou Shea of Bonita Springs, FL, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and Central America.
