It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Laurent Martel, who left us peacefully on August 5, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Born on September 26, 1942, in Manchester, New Hampshire, Laurent was the cherished son of George and Lillian Martel and grew up alongside his brothers, Andy and Robert.
Laurent grew up in Manchester but lived in Concord, New Hampshire for many years with his loving wife Rita Martel. Dan Martel, Lori Magoon and Jeff Martel were his three treasured children, and he was a proud grandfather to Daniel, Zachary, Kathryne, Brittany, Ryan, Emily, Alexandria, Kelsey, and Tyler. He was also a beloved great-grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life.
Laurent was proud of his four year enlistment in the Airforce as an airplane mechanic. A dedicated member of his community, Laurent also served as a volunteer firefighter and EMT in the town of Raymond, New Hampshire, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to helping others.
For 37 years, Laurent worked as a tool and die maker at General Electric Aviation in Hooksett, NH, where his skill and dedication were admired by colleagues. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he relished the thrill of the open road, creating countless memories throughout his journeys. Laurent Martel's legacy of love, service, and adventure will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 13th at 12:00 at the Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
