Obituary

Joseph M. Jenovese Jr., age 88, of Eastside Drive, Concord, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April, 28th 2024, surrounded by his family, following a period of declining health. He was born on November 11th, 1935 in Concord, to the late Joseph M. and Corinne (Bourke) Jenovese, Sr.

Joe was raised in Concord and attended St. John Catholic Schools, where he was on the basketball and baseball teams. As an adult he was a member of St. Peter's Church for many years.

He served in the United States Airforce from July 1954 – April 1958 and from November 1961 – June 1962. He was stationed at Mitchell Field Airforce Base in Long Island, N.Y., where he served as a medic in the maternity ward of the base hospital.

Joe met his first wife Mickey D'Andrea while stationed in N.Y. They started their family there and later moved to Concord, where they raised their four children.

He worked as a Postal Carrier for the US Postal Service for over 30 years. Many times he was photographed by and appeared in the Concord Monitor while he delivered mail in the rain, heat and snow. The family's favorite photo of Joe in the Monitor was when the post office introduced shorts as part of the uniform!

Joe married his second wife Nancy (Davison) Jenovese in 1982. He enjoyed square dancing, antiquing, and going to flea markets with Nancy. He also enjoyed reading, cooking and gardening. In his younger years he was a long time member of a bowling league at Boutwells Bowling Alley in Concord.

He is survived by his wife of almost 42 years, Nancy (Davison) Jenovese of Concord; his children, JoAnn Martin and her husband Gary of Concord, Laurie Abbott of Loudon, Robyn Ferguson and her husband Tom of Concord, and Jeffrey Jenovese of Manchester; 8 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Peter Jenovese, his sister Patricia (Jenovese) Holmes, and his first wife Mickey (D'Andrea) Locastro.
