Jennie Goley Boone, age 100, of Bow, passed away on December 11, 2023 at Granite Ledges in Concord.
She was born in Hooksett on Christmas day 1922, daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Zabreska) Goley. She was the youngest and last surviving member of her family. She attended school in Hooksett and was a graduate of the class of 1940 of Pembroke Academy and a graduate of Hesser Business College.
Jennie was employed as a bookkeeper by Radio Service Laboratory until her marriage to Allen Boon of Manchester during World War II. She lived in Louisville, KY to be near her husband who was stationed at Fort Knox, until he was sent overseas, then then returned to NH with her infant son, Daniel.
After the war, they made their home in Bow. She was employed at Merchants Insurance Group as a secretary/supervisor, retiring in May of 1985 after 28 years of service.
After retirement, she enjoyed crafting with her husband; tole painting, cross stitching, reading, sewing and traveling. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed making things for them and spending time with them.
She was a member of the American Legion Post # 37 of Hooksett, a member and officer of Bow Young at Heart, Hooksett Historical Society and Centennial Senior Center.
She was a volunteer at the VA Hospital and volunteered tracking planes for the City of Manchester in World War II.
She is survived by her son, Daniel Boone of Nashua; granddaughter, Kristen and her husband Steven of Florida, a grandson Kevin and wife Julie of Hooskett; and 2 great grandchildren, Brianna and Alexandra Boone of Hooksett; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Allen Boone, 4 brothers; and infant brother before her birth, and Nicholas, Thomas and Peter; her sister Olga Childs.
Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Bedford, NH.
Donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society 2 Commerce Dr Suite 210, Bedford, NH 03110, or to a charity of your choice.
The Waters Funeral Home in Concord has the honor of assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
