Obituary

James Antonio Poggi passed away peacefully on July, 25, 2024.  He was 96 years old.

Born in Roxbury, MA to the late Alexandro and Santa (Morconia) Poggi who were both born and raised in Italy.

He attended Boston Technical High School and Vesper George Art School.

He was a Technical Sargeant in the US Army stationed in Washington and Texas as a Medic.

James worked as an artist and lithographer for Concord Litho Company for over 30 years doing reproductions of greeting cards.

He loved being outdoors gardening growing his tomatoes.  He especially loved woodworking in his shop where he made many fine things for his family.  He loved dancing with his wife Velia, spending time at the ocean and maintaining his home.

Family was everything to him and he always wanted to help and do anything he could for them.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Velia (DiLegami) Poggi, his son Michael Poggi, his grandson Gregory Poggi, his siblings, Aldo, Alice, Florence, Sergio, Gloria and Delores.

He is survived by his children, Deborah Poggi and her husband Ed Edwards, Pamela Poggi, Steven Poggi and his wife Joan; grandchildren, Michael Poggi Edwards and his wife Elizabeth,  Cicely Poggi-Gedacht and her husband Andrew, Jenna Poggi Forzese and her husband Kevin; great grandchildren, Blake Edwards, Anna and Benjamin Gedacht and Mia, Eliana, Kai, and Olivia Forzese; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, August 2nd from 11:30 am – 12:30 PM at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord.

Graveside services will follow at 1 PM in the Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord.
