Obituary

James (Huggy) Lawrence
Huggy passed away October 8th, in the arms of his wife at home, after a battle with Cholangiocarcinoma cancer. Huggy was born James N Lawrence on June 22, 1953 to George and Virginia Hopps Lawrence.
He is survived by, "The love of his life," his wife Paula Harper, a son James Lawrence of Groton, CT, a daughter Amanda Taylor of Penacook, and a daughter Haylee Silver and son-in-law Brandon Silver of Canterbury. An Aunt, Barbara Lawrence Butler of Driggs, ID, two brothers Earl MacKenzie and wife Mary of Farmington, and Tim MacKenzie of Laconia and a sister Tamara MacKenzie of Pembroke, his In- Laws Frank and Sandra Harper of Allenstown and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents George and Virginia and brother Martin (Skip) Lawrence.
Huggy was a big loving bear that was all heart. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and enjoying the journey more than the destination with his wife and friends. He loved a good adventure and telling everyone about it after. He never met anyone he couldn't talk to. He was known for stopping to help stranded motorists along with the occasional turtle or other animal attempting to cross the road.
He was an active member of the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Department for many years. For the last 5 years, he was a very active volunteer for Speedway Children's Charities. Always a strong advocate for Veterans, as a Vietnam Era Veteran himself, he led many a motorcycle trips to Washington, DC for the Rolling Thunder Ride to the Wall, most recently by fulfilling a bucket list item for his Father-in-law Frank by riding with him on their Harley's to DC. Huggy enjoyed attending many Veterans services and events including many at the NH Veterans Cemetery. He retired from the US Postal Service Vehicle Maintenance Facility in June after 26 years of service.
The Family wishes to thank the entire community of Family, Friends, Co-workers, Bikers, Doctors, and Nurses that supported Huggy thru the end of his journey on Earth. The many calls, visits, cards, text messages, and the overwhelming show of support are appreciated more than we can say.
Visitation will be October ,2016 from 12-2 pm at Waters funeral Home 50 South Main Street, Concord NH. In the way Huggy wanted it to be, following visitation we will be taking him by motorcycle to his final resting place at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery for full military honors. All are welcome to ride with us.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Cholangiocarninoma Foundation or Dana Farber Cancer Center.
