Gertrude "Gretchen" Schneider

Concord -Gertrude "Gretchen" Schneider, age 89, formerly of Loudon, NH and Sarasota, FL passed away on May 1, 2013 at Pleasant View Center.

She was born in Wieselburg, Austria the daughter of the late Anton Fromm and the late Ottilia (Heindl) Hasse.

Gretchen was a WWII Bride of the late Harold Fletcher Baldwin, moving to American in 1948 settling in Canterbury, NH before moving to Boscawen, NH. She started Gretchen's Beauty Shop which she ran for many years. Gretchen was a master gardener, and avid reader and historian. She loved animals, and spent her winters in Sarasota, FL where she would volunteer for the Sarasota Hospice.

She was predeceased by her husband, Samuel Schneider who passed away in 2012; and one son Mark Baldwin.

Gretchen is survived by her sons, Robert Schneider of Chelmsford, MA, Harold Baldwin of Concord, NH; 3 daughters, Karen Rocklin of Weare, NH, Anna Rheaume of Loudon, and Esther K. Hertz of Darien, CT; 8 grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren; a brother Wolfgang Hasse of Fehmarn, Germany; 1 niece and two nephews.

Visiting hours will not be held.

Services will be held on Monday (5/6) at 11 AM at Temple Beth Jacob, Broadway, Concord.

Burial will follow in the Beth Jacob Cemetery, North State Street, Concord.
