George C.
Coronis
June 4, 2026
George C. Coronis, age 88, of Concord, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his
family on Thursday, June 4, 2026.
George was born in Newport, New Hampshire, to the late Charles G. and Efstathia (Constantacopoulos) Coronis. As the first generation of his family born in America, he carried with him a deep appreciation for his Greek heritage throughout his life.
George dedicated more than 40 years of service to the State of New Hampshire. He began his career in the Forestry Department before joining the Legislative Budget Assistant's Office. He spent the majority of his career serving as the Legislative Accountant.
George found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid gardener whose yard and beautiful gardens reflected the care and pride he took in everything he did. A talented woodworker, he loved spending time on the water fly-fishing and tying his own flies. Sports were a lifelong passion for him, from his youth through adulthood, during which he played softball, basketball, and volleyball. He treasured family camping trips, hikes, and time in Pittsburg, NH, on Lake Francis at the beautiful cabin he and his father-in-law built.
George's greatest joy was his family, including generations of nieces, nephews, and their children. He rarely missed an opportunity to support his granddaughters, attending their sporting events, celebrating their accomplishments, and welcoming their friends with genuine interest and warmth. Nothing brought him more pride than watching the young women they became.
In addition to his parents, George was predeceased by 5 brothers, Spiros, James, John, Angelo, and
Christos. His in-laws, who were dear to him, were Leopold F. and Elizabeth (Howell) Knebel.
George is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carol M. (Knebel) Coronis of Concord. George and Carol had been together since Junior High school, and he believed Carol was the strongest person he had ever known. His 2 daughters, Kimberly Coronis of Penacook and Kristin Coronis Jacques of Pembroke; his 2 granddaughters, Kelly and Courtney Jacques, their fiancés, Collin Justin and Trent Tougas, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the Audubon Society, Society for the Protection of NH Forests, or simply plant something that makes you happy!
The Waters Funeral Home in Concord has the honor of assisting the family with George's arrangements
