Daniel Walter Shea, age 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2023 in the company of his devoted family.

He was born in New York, NY the son of the late Denis and Isobel (Cook) Shea.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University class of 1958, and his Masters in Education from St. John's University.

Dan loved teaching Social Studies and languages, especially Latin.  He taught at Calhoun High School in Merrick, NY retiring in 1998, and then returned to teaching, most recently at Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, NY retiring in 2021.  Dan loved sports, especially hockey. He was an off-ice official for the New York Islanders from 1972-2015, and a youth hockey coach and referee on Long Island for many years.  He lived in Oceanside, NY for most of his life, relocating to Concord, NH in 2022.

Dan was predeceased by his two sisters, Maureen Reinhart and Denise Macklin.

He is survived by his loving wife Jacqueline V. (Russillo) Shea of Concord; 2 sons, David Shea of Concord, NH and Daniel Shea of Garden City, NY; 2 daughters, Christine Beer of Red Hook, NY, and Elizabeth Shea and her husband Gregory Gachowsky of Olympia, WA; 2 brothers, David Shea and his wife Mary Lou of Springfield, VA, and Stephen Shea and his wife Lisa of Smithfield, RI; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, January 27 ^th from 9:30-10:15 AM at Christ the King Parish, 72 South Main Street, Concord, NH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Concord.
