Obituary

Claire M. Guay, 83, of Concord died peacefully on September 17th at home with her family by her side.
She was born on March 31, 1930. Claire was the daughter of the late John F. and Josephine (Ahern) McGrath. She was raised in Concord and was a graduate of St. John's High School class of 1948.
She was predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Sharpe, Alice Cushing, and her brother John F. McGrath Jr.
Claire is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lawrence R. Guay of Concord; her two sons, Lawrence (Randy) Guay, Kirk Guay, and her daughter Kathi Guay, three grandchildren, her sister Katherine Jerd of Concord and several nieces and nephews.
Prior to her marriage she worked for the State of NH Highway Department. Claire and her husband traveled extensively while Larry served in the Air Force, then returned to Concord to raise a family. Claire was an accomplished badminton and tennis player, winning many tournaments throughout New England. Claire and Larry took several trips to Ireland to visit her parent's homeland and spend time with her relatives. Claire and Larry spent winters in Florida for the past 25 years and have made many close friends there.
Memorial Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 21st from 1-3 PM at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 South Main Street, Concord. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Claire's memory to the CRVNA Hospice program, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301 or to the Carmelite Monastery, 275 Pleasant Street Concord, NH 03301.
