Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of Bruce H. Bairstow of Alton, NH announces his unexpected passing on February 10th, 2025. He was 69 years old.

Born on February 1st, 1956 in Waukegan, IL to the late Dr. Bruce A. and Claire (Wetzel) Bairstow, Bruce pursued his passion for technology, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Marist College. He built a successful career at various technology firms, most recently as an Engineer for IBM Watson Health, before retiring in 2021.

A longtime resident of Concord, Bruce was an active member of South Congregational Church and a man of deep values—family, service, perseverance, adventure, connection, and civic engagement. Bruce was a true car enthusiast and he found joy in skiing, playing and listening to music, water sports, traveling, and spending time with beloved family and friends. Above all, Bruce will be remembered for his intelligence, warmth, passion, loyalty, and unmistakable sense of humor.

Bruce will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 23 years, Amy (Fritz) Bairstow of Alton, NH; his daughters, Elyssa Bairstow Barrocas of Atlanta, GA, Emma Bairstow of Chicago, IL, Lily Bairstow of Concord, NH; his stepdaughter, Lauren Canales of Charlestown, MA; and his beloved grandson, Leonardo Barrocas of Atlanta, GA. He is also survived by his sisters, Emilie Dyson of Millbrook, NY, and Elizabeth Jestude of Poughkeepsie, NY. In addition to his parents, Bruce was predeceased by his brother, Christopher Bairstow.

To honor Bruce's legacy, a funeral will be held at the South Congregational Church in Concord, NH on March 29th, 2025 at 10:30 am. An interment and reception will follow in succession. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lakes Region Conservation Trust in Harbor, NH or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Chicago, IL.
