Albert R. Hagen, age 97, of Cabernet Drive, Concord, NH, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home on Monday, May 26th, 2025.
Born in Braintree, MA, the son of the late Albert R. and Umbelina (Govoni) Hagen. Albert was a Veteran of the US Navy, who took great pride in his service as a Tin Can Sailor. He was Stationed on the USS Wood, during WWII.
Albert was the beloved husband and best friend to his wife of over 73 years, Esther (Cambra) Hagen of Concord.
He leaves two children, his daughter, Deborah Norris and her husband Mike, of Hopkinton, NH; his son, John W. Hagen and his wife Jenny of Gainesville, VA; 6 grandchildren, Anthony Norris of Manchester, Joseph Norris of Concord, Jennifer Branham of Colorado, Jack Hagen of S. Carolina, Brett Hagen of Illinois, and Tarahn Aeisi of Virginia; many great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother John W. Hagen, and his sister, Barbara Ramsay.
Albert worked as an electrician for many years in Massachusetts. While working there he was proud to say that he wired the very first Burger King in the State. He went on to become the General Manager for Dow Chemical in Colorado, where he worked for the rest of his career. He was an avid reader, and quite the historian on all things Civil War and WWII. Albert was a very talented artist, specializing in paintings and loved providing artwork for his family's homes. He enjoyed being with his family, celebrating holidays and special events together.
A visiting hour will be held on Saturday, May 31st from 10 to 11 AM at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 158 Old West Hopkinton Road.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 AM at the church.
Burial with military honors, will be held on Thursday, June 5th at 12 Noon in the chapel at the NH Veterans Cemetery, DW Highway, Boscawen.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Granite VNA Hospice, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301 or to the VA Center in Manchester, Attn; Voluntary Services, 718 Smyth Road, Manchester, NH 03104.
The Waters Funeral Home in Concord has the honor of assisting the family with the funeral arrangements.
